About

Lectures, but with a better backdrop.

TapTalks is a series of engaging and credible talks where academic scholars and industry leaders share fun, inspiring knowledge at a bar or lounge.

One speaker. One subject. One excellent room.

From Hong Kong, with curiosity.

TapTalks began in Hong Kong, born out of a simple frustration: the smartest conversations in the city were happening in lecture halls that closed at 6pm, while the best rooms in town sat full of people with nothing to talk about. So we put the two together — a serious speaker, a generous bar, and a small crowd that actually wanted to listen.

What started as a handful of evenings tucked into Hong Kong’s back-street bars quickly outgrew its first few rooms. We’re now bringing TapTalks to Singapore, and from there, across South East Asia — the same format, the same standard, in cities that deserve a smarter night out.

We believe the best ideas land softer with a drink in hand. Each evening, we invite a researcher or practitioner whose work we love and ask them to do the impossible: be rigorous and entertaining at the same time.

Expect short talks, generous Q&A, and the kind of conversations that follow you home. No jargon, no panels, no slides for the sake of slides — just smart people being human in handsome rooms.
